Dayton-based Scott Industrial Systems has filed for a permit to add 18,000 square feet at its facility on Interpoint Boulevard. The work will be done by John Construction LLC of West Milton.
Company officials said the project will cost about $1 million.
Scott Industrial is a distributor of fluid power products and equipment used in manufacturing that opened in Dayton in the late 1940s.
Chris Grudich, vice president of finance for Scott Industrial, told me the need for more shop and inventory space is driving the project. Currently, the company has 42,000 square feet in Dayton.
“Our business has surpassed our pre-recession levels and we expect continued growth in the coming years,” Grudich said. “We want to be well positioned for the expected growth in 2015, 2016, 2017.”
Scott Industrial has about 85 employees, including 60 here in the Dayton area, and covers six states including Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
It operates a warehouse and office in Indianapolis, Ind. and sales offices in Huron and Louisville, Ky.
