Position Summary:
The Electrical Controls Engineer will design products related to industrial and/or mobile control systems, as well as automation and systems integration. As an Electrical Controls Engineer, the individual will have responsibilities related to the specification, quotation, design, and system integration of complex industrial and/or mobile control systems.
Education and Experience:
- Required
- BSEE, BSEET, or BSACET degree
- Preferred
- MSEE degree
- 5-10 + years of related work experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Determine the design and performance parameters for electronic control system applications.
- Determine system I/O map to specify hardware to meet existing design requirements in addition to accommodation of potential future system growth.
- Develop quotations for these systems based on the initial design and specifications.
- Design automation, industrial, and mobile controls electrical system hardware and software.
- Develop PLC and HMI software to meet the functional requirements of the system.
- Support sales by visiting customer sites to discuss systems solutions as well as on-site start-ups.
- Generate preliminary schematics, bill of materials, fabrication, and control panel layout drawings.
- Troubleshoot and debug electrical controls hardware and PLC/HMI software.
- Provide direction and support through the construction process.
- Oversee and sign-off on final testing of the completed system.
- Initiate final technical documentation for completed projects.
- Provide technical support and troubleshoot for technicians, customers, and sales team.
- Responsible for maintaining current technical, interpersonal, and communication skills through continuous development. Progressive development of skills should be cultivated through further education, seminars, company training, and other external resources such as reading material.

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
- Knowledge of industrial and mobile PLC and HMI programming.
- Knowledge of CoDeSys, IQAN, RSLogix (AB), CX-Programmer (Omron), ladder logic, programming languages.
- Knowledge and proficiency in Team Viewer for external system troubleshooting.
- Knowledge and proficiency in system data storage and transfer.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of UL508A standard for electrical control panels.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- General office environment with some exposure to industrial shop environments
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
- Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery
